Ajrakh is an age-old tradition practiced in Ajrakhpur, a village in the Kutch district of Gujarat. This fine art includes a detailed process of resist-printing and dyeing using intricate hand-carved wooden blocks. Ajrakh printing is a tedious & lengthy process involving several stages of printing and washing the fabric over and over again with various natural dyes and mordants such as harda, lime, alizarin, indigo and even camel dung. As only natural dyes are used we can see only earthy shades such as black, indigo, mustard, maroon etc. in authentic Ajrakh products.
Bandhani is a traditional tie-dye craft from Kutch, India. Skilled artisans meticulously tie thousands of tiny knots on fabric, creating intricate patterns. The fabric is then dyed in vibrant colors. The knots are untied, revealing beautiful dotted designs. Bandhani textiles, renowned for their rich history and craftsmanship
The vibrant colors and intricate patterns of Bandhej complement the geometric motifs of Ajrakh, creating a unique fusion. This combination adds depth and elegance to textiles, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Kutch, India.
