Ajrakh is an age-old tradition practiced in Ajrakhpur, a village in the Kutch district of Gujarat. This fine art includes a detailed process of resist-printing and dyeing using intricate hand-carved wooden blocks. Ajrakh printing is a tedious & lengthy process involving several stages of printing and washing the fabric over and over again with various natural dyes and mordants such as harda, lime, alizarin, indigo and even camel dung.
